About the Project
Muhammad Aliuddin bin Zakaria : fikri@ameacademy.edu.my: Ame Training Academy Scientific research indicates a direct correlation between high carbon dioxide (CO2) concentrations in classrooms and a significant decline in student cognitive performance and alertness. Despite this, most learning environments lack the instrumentation to measure air quality in real-time. This project addresses the gap in environmental monitoring tools available to student researchers. The objective of this study is to develop a low-cost, IoT-enabled environmental data logger capable of mapping classroom air quality. The innovation features an ESP32-based device equipped with MQ135 (air quality) and DHT11 (temperature/humidity) sensors. This device continuously transmits environmental telemetry to a cloud platform, generating synchronized, time-stamped graphs of classroom air conditions. The primary benefit of CogAir is the provision of empirical, data-driven insights that allow student researchers to identify correlations between classroom ventilation and self-reported student fatigue. This innovation provides a methodology for students to advocate for infrastructure improvements based on hard data. In conclusion, CogAir empowers students to take an active role in their learning environment by quantifying the unseen factors that dictate cognitive focus, providing a foundation for healthier and more efficient academic spaces.
