About the Project
Out-of-hospital cardiac arrest requires immediate Basic Life Support (BLS), but standard auditory based protocols exclude hearing impaired individuals. To bridge this gap, the DEAF SAVE LIVES MALAYSIA (DSLM) module was developed. DSLM innovatively translates standard BLS into a visual tactile framework. It integrates the text based SaveME 999 DEAF app, visual breath checks, screen guided AED protocols, and Augmented Reality (AR) instructional videos in Malaysian Sign Language (BIM). Copyrighted and supported by industry partners, this scalable, market ready resource empowers the deaf community with essential life saving skills, directly advancing SDG 3 and Malaysia’s MADANI aspirations for inclusive health equity and readiness.
