EcoWash Filter: A Low-Cost Modular Filtration System for Washing Machine Wastewater

About the Project

EcoWash Filter is a low-cost, modular filtration system designed to reduce visible impurities in washing machine wastewater. Developed using an upcycled PET bottle, mesh, sponge, cotton and activated carbon, the system is directly connected to the washing machine drainage hose. It is simple, reusable and easy-to-maintain design promotes sustainable wastewater management. Prototype testing demonstrated a visible reduction in impurities and improved water clarity, highlighting its potential for application in households, hostels and student residences.
