About the Project

This innovation presents a field-based Tree Risk Learning and Communication Framework that transforms basic tree risk assessment into an authentic environmental learning experience. Students assess tree conditions and potential hazards in real campus environments, then communicate findings through public-friendly caution signage and QR-coded tree tags. The framework integrates experiential learning, ecological knowledge, communication skills, and community engagement while providing useful information for campus tree management. Evaluation using a 29-item survey involving 83 students showed high fieldwork engagement (M=4.57), skill development (M=4.50), and environmental responsibility (M=4.50). This practical and scalable innovation empowers students as proactive environmental communicators and supports sustainable campus management.
