About the Project

Muhammad Syahmi bin Mohd Shahizan : fikri@ameacademy.edu.my: Ame Training Academy In the era of digital saturation, smartphones represent the primary source of procrastination for students, negatively impacting study quality and learning outcomes. Traditional study timers fail to address the underlying psychological drive to check devices. The problem addressed is the lack of physical, automated intervention in study environments to enforce digital discipline. The objective of this project is to create an IoT-integrated study pad that enforces focus periods using the Pomodoro technique. The FocuStat innovation utilizes an ESP32, an IR obstacle sensor, and an LED notification ring. When a student places their phone face down on the sensor pad, the ESP32 initiates a cloud-synchronized 25-minute study timer. The device emits visual feedback through the LED ring, indicating active focus. Should the phone be removed before the timer expires, the session is logged as a failure on the student’s mobile dashboard. The impact of this innovation is the creation of a tangible, automated discipline tool that gamifies the study experience. By tracking "Successful Study Hours" via cloud analytics, students build measurable study habits. In conclusion, FocuStat offers a future-ready solution to smartphone addiction by blending physical behavioral triggers with digital progress tracking, effectively reclaiming study time and improving academic performance.
