About the Project

The use of conventional baby walkers has been widely discouraged by pediatric experts due to the high risk of injuries, particularly from falls, collisions, and exposure to hazardous objects. This project aims to design and develop a Smart Safe Baby Walker that enhances child safety while supporting early development and assisting caregivers. The proposed system integrates infrared (IR) sensors, a microcontroller, and an automatic braking mechanism to detect hazards such as stairs and edges. Upon detecting danger, the system triggers an alert and stops the walker automatically, preventing accidents. Additionally, the walker includes an interactive learning panel to promote cognitive and motor skill development. A battery safety indicator ensures reliable system operation. The methodology involves sensor-based detection, real-time processing using an Arduino microcontroller, and mechanical braking via servo-controlled components. The results demonstrate improved safety features compared to traditional walkers, reducing the likelihood of injuries. The innovation offers significant potential for commercialization due to its practical safety applications and increasing parental demand for smart childcare products. Keywords: baby walker safety, infrared sensors, smart devices, child development, accident prevention.
