SMART-FYP: Supervisory Management, Assessment, and Research Tracking for Final Year Project

About the Project

SMART-FYP is a web-based system designed to enhance Final Year Project (FYP) management in higher education. It integrates automated supervisor and examiner assignments, rubric-based mark calculation, real-time progress tracking, notifications, and AI-assisted project title generation. Developed using the Design Science Research Methodology (DSRM), the system underwent comprehensive testing and user acceptance evaluation. All 23 system test cases passed, with response times below one second. Evaluation involving 51 students and three academic staff demonstrated positive outcomes, with 100% of students reporting improved FYP management and 98% reporting enhanced communication. These findings highlight SMART-FYP’s potential to improve administrative efficiency, transparency, and collaboration.
