About the Project

The Smart Shelf Inventory System (SSIS) is an Internet of Things (IoT)-based solution developed to improve inventory monitoring by reducing dependency on manual stock counting and record-keeping. Conventional inventory management methods can be time-consuming, prone to human error, and inefficient in detecting changes in stock quantities. To address these challenges, SSIS integrates load cell sensors, HX711 amplifier modules, and an ESP32 microcontroller with a web-based inventory management application. The system measures the weight of items placed on a shelf and estimates their quantities based on predefined unit weights. The measurements are displayed through an LCD screen and communicated to the web application for digital inventory monitoring. The proposed solution demonstrates how affordable IoT components can be integrated with software technology to provide a practical approach to automated inventory tracking. SSIS has potential applications in small businesses, retail stores, laboratories, and storage facilities. With further development, the system could support scalable and accessible smart inventory management solutions.
