Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is commonly associated with deficits in motor coordination, attention regulation, and adaptive behaviour, which may affect learning participation and psychosocial well-being. Innovative intervention strategies that integrate physical activity, sensory stimulation, and structured learning environments are therefore essential to support the developmental needs of autistic learners. This study investigates the effectiveness of the Smart Teaching Enhancement Platform (STEP), a modular and sustainable intervention platform designed to enhance motor, cognitive, and behavioural outcomes among pupils with autism. STEP was developed using recyclable materials such as PVC pipes and repurposed plastic components, enabling the construction of multiple activity stations including ball-bouncing drills, locomotor exercises, net-based coordination tasks, tactile literacy modules (ABRAKS), and storytelling platforms. A mixed-methods approach was employed involving teacher surveys, structured classroom observations, behavioural assessments, and semi-structured interviews with five teachers from three Malaysian states selected through cluster sampling. Intervention trials involving autistic pupils and mainstream learners indicated notable improvements in motor coordination, attention span, engagement, and emotional regulation. Sensory-friendly elements such as tactile pathways and controlled auditory cues further facilitated behavioural stability and sustained participation. The findings suggest that STEP functions as an effective, low-cost health-supportive educational intervention that promotes multisensory stimulation, physical activity, and inclusive learning. The platform demonstrates potential as a scalable model for supporting developmental health and well-being among children with autism in both educational and community settings
